Cheap Hotels in Denham Springs, La

by Becky on July 17, 2013

You may be looking for cheap hotels in Denham Springs to put up an out-of-town guest or if you’re from out of town and visiting family or friends in the Denham Springs / Livingston Parish area.  I’ve done the legwork for you, and here are the hotels we have in Denham in order from cheapest to the most expensive:

Magnuson Hotel Denham Springs Hotel Formerly Quality Inn1.  Magnuson Hotel Denham Springs$54.98-$62.00/night – This was formerly a Quality Inn and just completed re-branding in July 2013.  While Expedia says “81% of travelers recommend,” three of the last four reviews were 1/5 or 2/5.  Hopefully the new owners will address complaints about dirty rooms, stained furniture, holes in the bedding and curtains, the pool being closed in the summer, running out of free “hot breakfast,” etc.

Highland Inn Denham Springs Hotel2.  Highland Inn Denham Springs$54.99-59.99/night:  Two 2013 reviews of Highland Inn called it dirty, ratty, and didn’t provide breakfast as promised.  Of the four reviews on Yahoo Travel, 3 contained “Never Again” in the subject.  That should tell you what you need to know.

Western Inn Plus Denham Springs Hotel3.  Western Inn Plus Denham Springs$54.99-$64.99/night:  Next to Bass Pro, but few reviews available.  A May 2013 reviewer said the desk clerk tried to overcharge them and not honor the advertised price, they were given a smoking room when they asked for a non-, the new room had one room instead of two, walls were paper-thin, and their review ended with the word, “Beware.”   Another reviewer also complained about a rude desk clerk.

Days Inn Denham Springs Hotel4.  Days Inn Denham Springs$59.99-69.99/night – This is the oldest hotel in Denham Springs, currently undergoing renovations according to a recent manager response on TripAdvisor.  Mixed recent reviews, none really glowing, but they weren’t terrible, either.  Seems the hotel is showing its age.

Best Western Denham Springs Hotel5.  Best Western Denham Springs Inn$62.55/night – Mixed reviews on TripAdvisor, with a grade of 48% and #5 of the 5 hotels with reviews.  Strangely, on Priceline it was listed as the #1 hotel in Denham Springs.  People liked the price and the location, didn’t like non-working fridges and non-smokers being given smoking rooms.  A recent traveler complained that his room had fleas or bugs.

Candlewood Suites Denham Springs Hotel6.  Candlewood Suites Denham Springs$90.00-115.00/night – Ranked #2 in Denham Springs by TripAdvisor with a grade of 66%, and ranked first in Denham by Yelp.  94% of Expedia reviewers recommend it.  Reviewers rave about the friendly staff, the clean rooms, and as it’s an extended stay hotel, the in-suite kitchens.

Hampton Inn Denham Springs Hotel7.  Hampton Inn Baton Rouge – Denham Springs$109-169.00/night – Ranked #1 in Denham Springs by reviewers at TripAdvisor with a grade of 77%, and 98% of Expedia reviewers recommend it.  Despite the name, it IS located in Denham – right across the street from the always-delicious Don’s Seafood Hut on Rushing Road.

So there is something to the old adage that, “you get what you pay for.”  However, if price is an issue, I still would avoid the first three on the list:  Magnuson, Highland Inn, and Western Inn Plus.  I think the Magnuson, recently under new ownership, will probably start making some long-needed updates.  In the meantime, if you’re on a budget and you just need a bed, Days Inn or Best Western will do and are reasonably priced.
