Find the Cheapest Gas Prices in Denham Springs or YOUR Town

by Becky on July 19, 2013

I recently re-discovered a great tool to help you find the cheapest gas in town — GasBuddy!

Here is their direct webpage of Denham Springs’ cheapest gas prices.  (If you’re outside of the lovely burg of Denham Springs, enter your own city or zipcode to get results in your town!)  This is handy to use if you’re at home, planning your daily errands, and you want to figure out where to stop for gas along the way.

gasbuddyThey also have a free Apple GasBuddy app you can use on the go.  More on that in a minute.

How does GasBuddy keep track of gas prices at every gas station in the US?  It’s from good old-fashioned man-on-the-street reporting.  If you have their app, you yourself can help keep the info up to date for others to use!

So after you download and install the GasBuddy app, it’ll ask you if you have an account yet.  If not, it just takes a sec:  username, email address, password, and zipcode.

gasbuddyNext, you’ll see the screen to the right.  Click the big button, “Find Gas Near Me.”

Or, if you’re curious about gas prices in another city, you can enter the city and state or zip in the search box at the top, and it’ll go straight to those results instead.

gaslistingsAfter you click Find Gas Near Me, you’ll see a page that looks kind of like this <<<

Scroll down the page and you’ll see all of the gas stations around you in order of distance.  (See the dashes next to some service stations?  That’s because nobody has reported prices there lately.)

Or instead, you can click the button at the bottom to have the results sorted by price.  This showed me results from all stations within about 6.5 miles.  If it’s a huge difference, it may be worth it to drive a little further to save on gas.

As I type this, regular gas ranged from $3.38/gal to $3.79/gal.  That’s a pretty huge difference!

About Reporting Gas Prices
What is it that makes people willing to take the time to input gas prices?  Part of it is just the Good Samaritanism of it — wanting to help contribute to a community resource that everyone can use.  But another part of it is that reporting prices earns you points you can use for tickets into a weekly drawing for $250 in gas cards!  (Yeah, that could be it, too.)

You’ll earn 150 points for reporting a price — up to the first five reports you make in a day.  1,000 points = a ticket in the weekly drawing.  So there’s an incentive for people to make reports often…which is good, because it keeps the information up-to-date!

Well, there you have it — GasBuddy, the website, and the GasBuddy app, great tools to help you find cheap gas in Denham Springs, throughout Livingston Parish, or anywhere in the US!

I encourage all my readers to help keep their pricing database current by reporting prices when you stop for gas!
